Junior Eurovision – LED screen Cinematic
Real-Time Cinematic Direction | UE5 | Sequencer | Foliage| Landscape
Overview
A cinematic created for a live stage performance, designed to play seamlessly behind the performer during the show.
The sequence transitions through multiple environments — from a dystopian city to an industrial factory, a burning forest, a swamp, and finally a wide atmospheric reveal.
The key goal was to maintain visual continuity while shifting mood, scale, and environment.
My Role
Cinematic Artist / Cinematic director / Environment artist

• Directed and produced a real-time cinematic for live stage playback
• Designed seamless transitions between multiple environments (city → factory → burning forest → swamp → wide reveal)
• Developed environment lighting and post-process setups for each scene
• Worked extensively on foliage materials, shaders, and visual consistency
• Balanced multiple looks using scene-specific post-processing pipelines
• Ensured stable real-time playback for live performance conditions
• Handled environment composition, atmosphere, and visual storytelling

Cinematic Direction & Flow
Built the sequence around smooth, uninterrupted transitions between scenes, ensuring a continuous visual journey without breaking immersion.
Carefully controlled pacing and composition to match the performance on stage.
Environment & Foliage Work
A major focus was on foliage — including material setup, shading, and consistency across different biomes.
Adjusted vegetation density, color, and response to lighting to maintain visual coherence between drastically different environments.
Lighting & Post-Processing
Each environment required its own lighting setup and post-process tuning.
Balanced multiple PP pipelines to achieve distinct moods (industrial, fire-lit forest, foggy swamp) while keeping transitions seamless.
Technical Challenges
Handled multiple environment setups within a single real-time sequence.
Optimized performance to ensure stable playback during a live event.
Maintained visual consistency despite different lighting models and atmospheric conditions.
Outcome
The cinematic was presented live on stage and viewed by hundreds of thousands of viewers.
The content was rendered and played in real time during the performance, requiring both visual quality and technical reliability.
