Overview

Flying Peep is a personal indie game project fully created and directed by me, combining atmospheric storytelling, stylized visuals, and exploration-focused gameplay inside a surreal dark world.

The project focused on building a strong emotional atmosphere through environmental composition, cinematic lighting, and minimalist gameplay mechanics. Special attention was given to mood, pacing, and visual readability while maintaining a cohesive stylized art direction across the entire experience.

The game was fully developed in Unreal Engine and released on Steam.

Gameplay & Systems

  • Built gameplay logic entirely inside Unreal Engine using Blueprint systems, emphasizing responsive controls and smooth player feedback.

Art Direction & Atmosphere

Created the overall visual direction of the project, focusing on surreal environments, cinematic composition, and atmospheric storytelling.

Used lighting, fog, color contrast, and environmental silhouettes to create a mysterious and emotionally driven experience.

Level Design

Designed stylized dark environments with a strong focus on exploration flow, visual guidance, and environmental pacing.

Each level was built to support immersion and narrative atmosphere through composition and spatial storytelling.

Technical Workflow

Handled the entire production pipeline independently, including gameplay systems, environment creation, lighting, optimization, and final packaging.

Combined artistic direction with technical implementation to maintain both visual consistency and stable real-time performance.

Outcome

Successfully released as a commercial indie title on Steam, reaching over 1000+ sales and demonstrating strong execution across solo game development, atmospheric world-building, and real-time production workflows.

The project showcases full-cycle independent development capabilities, combining creative direction, gameplay systems, technical implementation, and visual storytelling within a fully self-produced release pipeline.
